I don't know why I feel miserable. Is it because i'm alone in the house and no roomate here bugging me? Or is it because there is practically 20 inches of snow outside my window! Or is it because I don't know what I want to do after I finish my psychology degree ( Read more... )

How many hours do you work?
Do you study on campus a lot? I seem to get my reading done more on campus at the library.

Also being a psych student, I've wondered about that myself. I wanted to be pre-med, but I'm really not a math person. If you still want to go to med school you can do it post-bac, or take the classes u need after you graduate and then apply to med school. I'm really not into social work and my dream is to get a private practice. In order to do that I've gotta do the grad school Phd thing. Also, internships are important. SOooo many people are psych majors and very few of them work in the field. You need something to stand out. But, you still have the opportunity to be pre-law or go into musiness or whatever you want. I know, it's a duanting task to pick what you want to do for the rest of your life, but you still have some options. As for studying, I honestly do everything the last minute, but it doesn't seem to affect my grades (A's and B's). If I don't have a paper to do or a test to study for, I put about 5 hours a week studying/researching. If I'm doing a test/paper I'll study for like 2-4 days before and do fine, but that's just

See! That's what I am scared of. There is no demand for Psych jobs because everyone's practically a Psych major! I'm worried. I am just trying to get good grades. Oh, and I got this work study position where I'm going to be researching at a biology lab.
Also, I am trying to volunteer and be a "best buddy" to a girl with a developmental disorder. I'm also thinking of minoring in Computer Science or do the whole post bacc program (pre med requirements) but i havent taken math or science in so long so im kinda worried, but hey if you put your mind to it, anything is possible right? Give me encouraging thoughts. =D lol. ;)

I'm just trying not to worry about it as much so I can concentrate on my major and career. And, yeah, it's your choice so as long as you work at it you should be able to accomplish what you want (within reason). Your networking seems to be a good idea. Knowing people in the psych field can def. help out.

I think it's pretty normal to wrestle with the question of what to do after undergrad. I was lucky enough to land an internship and I ended up in a job I really loved. Though right now I'm planning on going to grad school.

The great thing about a psych degree is you can do so much with it. You'll figure it out. Maybe talk to a counselor at the college and ask them what options you have.

As far as your question, when I was in school I generally tried to study at least 2 hours a day. That didn't always happen but I double majored so I tried to stay on top of things. Right now I'm an advertising rep for an ad agency.

You'll figure it out! Don't worry
