Kai and Ruki is a pairing that doesn't get written very often, for some reason - partly because of the fandom's tendency to regard Aoiha and Reituki as the default pairings (pretty annoying for a Kai fan like me), partly because it doesn't seem like an "obvious" pairing. Kai and Ruki have had some memorable interactions, though - most notably in the Road to Nameless Liberty documentary when Kai was comforting Ruki after his Black Moral stickers went missing!

Well I'm currently working on a Uruha/Kai fic if that helps. Uruha isn't Ruki but he's Ducky!

It's easy to understand why Ruki feels the way he does. Even if he can rationalize why the awards don't matter, even though he knows he's the best at what he does, being passed over so many times would make the most confident person start to doubt himself a little. Kai is such a sweetheart for recognizing that and offering support. And the fans definitely won't let Ruki down in the online polls.

Ruki is in a position where he pretty much has to put on a brave face because that's what everyone is expecting - including himself. It's not a good position to be in. And yeah, no matter how many times people on Twitter and at personal appearances heap praise on him, there's still that niggling doubt that none of it will mean anything until it's backed up with a trophy from the Japan Adult Video Association. It's definitely a good thing that he was able to let out all these pent-up emotions with Kai!

I've been looking forward to this one! Read it in the car but didn't trust the signal enough to comment via the app. I'm glad Ruki's antics inspired you to write this one because damn *fans self* the visuals were so hot. And Kai is his usual sweet, adorable self.

The fans definitely won't force Ruki into another Leonardo Dicaprio position. They're the ones who recognize his talents and are the ones who appreciate it the most. I know he'll be climbing that podium and getting his award! If all goes well, he'll even get a second JAVA for best oral as he's rightfully due.

There was no way I was NOT going to write a Ruki-centric fic after those shows. Granted, the rest of the guys were inspirational as well, but the performance Ruki put on was pretty much saying to the public, "I'M A PORN STAR, LOOK AT ME!"

Ruki is right to put his trust in the fans in this fic - in fact, one thing he's not considering is that his solid base of fan support might actually be hindering his chances at official recognition! "Official" awards bodies tend to turn their noses up at fan favorites - which was, I think, a factor in DiCaprio having to wait so long for his award.

Oh, I KNEW the first fic I did after seeing the GazettE live and going to their meet and greet would be Gaze-centric. The performance that Ruki put on just screamed "WRITE PORN!" I'm so glad you enjoyed the fic - these two really are a cute couple that not enough people seem to appreciate. (Even though my Gaze OTP is Kai/Uruha, I have a soft spot for this pairing as well!)

I went to two, actually - Toronto (where I was VIP) and New York. The Toronto show was marred by the fact that I didn't get anything to eat that day (due to the staff mismanaging the times that VIP split off from the regular line and went in to get goods, which, from what I understand from other stops on the tour, was common) and nearly passed out. (And then the person at the bar had the nerve to charge me $3 for water when I told her I was passing out).
