Myers-Briggs MADNESS

May 29, 2005 18:13

I'm curious as to what all of your Myers-Briggs temperaments are. Me, I'm an INFJ. I've taken the 'real test' before as well as all sorts of cheesy online ones and it always come out the same. That, and I most strongly identify with the descriptions of INFJs ( Read more... )

I'd say all of the online ones are lacking in some way or another, but amusing and potentially accurate enough nonetheless.

Man, EVERYONE is getting into Myers-Briggs lately. I have been obessed with it for the past few weeks, actually, but have really only mentioned it twice in my own journal, although I've been thinking about making a bigger post about it. I also seem to test INFJ on most of the tests. However, I took one test that ranks the development of you cognitive processes (Ne, Ni, Se, Si, Te, Ti, Fe, Fi) instead of having a bunch of I vs E, S vs N, T vs F, J vs P questions, and it said my preferences most strongly aligned with...ENTP. I don't think I'm an ENTP. I mean, I think the T vs F is my weakest preference, although I do lean slightly F, and my N preference is very strong. I made a ton of comments in another friend's journal about the test, which you can see here. If you are interested in this particular test (the preferences ranking one), you can take it hereWhere/when did you take the real test? I'm really interested in taking it myself because I seem to score INFJ on most of the tests, but after this one, I don't feel so sure ( ... )

I took the real test twice, both times at Whitman. Once when I went into counseling for something and another time at the Career Center when I was having a 'what the fuck do I want to do with my life, who am I, and what do I want?!?' crisis. Good times. The test is something like only 70% accurate. A lot of people are forced into certain traits and habits because of family and work situations and thusly the actions they normally do don't correspond with what they would naturally do and their tests results get messed up. And of course no one has every trait of any one temperament and different people express the same traits in many different ways ( ... )

Ooooooh, yay, I hope that's not only for current students...I'm probably going to go to the career center ANYWAY in my "holy shit I'm back in the US and UNEMPLOYED" moment, so I shall find out about it then. =)

Oh, and one site I want to share...infj.com...lots of interesting information, and I found myself relating to a lot of the stuff in the "handbook."

1st test: ISTJ: 72/51/62/61% Disagree with majority of description.

2nd test: IS(T/F)(P/J): 72/56/50/50% I think that about sums it up, actually. With the exception of being obviously introverted, I'd agree with being a toss up between sensing/intuitive, thinking/feeling, perceiving/judging. Strange but true.

3rd test: ISFJ: 68/59/61/64% Allright, you win, ISFJ.

Speaking of sexual orientation, I would be willing to bet that the vast majority of people are actually bi to various degrees. Maybe this is obvious; I'd guess that strong opposition to that assertion is almost entirely societal. Call me crazy!

Crazy! Oh hoh! Bet you didn't see that one coming - I'm so smooth.

You? Introverted? Ha! I meen, geez, don't you remember all those time in high school when I was constantly saying, "Kris! Stop calling! And no, I can't come to your party tonight - I have to do homework sometime! Can't you go for one night without having a million friends over and getting completely smashed? How about if you just stay at home by yourself one night and just read a book or play some video game. Chill out." And then, I had to change my phone number because you wouldn't leave me alone. It was really quite the nuisance.

I don't know if it's helpful to say everyone is bi to some degree and that any total lack of interest in the same sex is societal. Even if it is societal, it is a *very* strong compunction in many people, and many people exhibit absolutely no sexual attraction towards the same sex. Presumably there are plenty of gay people who have absolutely no interest in the opposite sex, though I can't speak from experience on that one.

That being said, I'm willing to entertain the notion that the bi-gap between men and women (seemingly many more bi women than men) is at least partly societal.

You make a good point. I guess what I was trying to get at is that I would define someone who's "completely" heterosexual as one who finds the idea of any sort of sexual contact with a same sex partner to be repugnant. This is where I feel society plays a large role, in that since hetero is the mainstream (and, from certain religious authorities, 'correct') orientation, most people don't seriously consider whether they're actually repulsed by the idea or only expect that they would be in the situation ( ... )

white, female, older but still sensual (but not to be confused with 'sexy' which is a thing of the past), deliciously straight, scorpio. interesting comments on the straight vs gay thing. i am STRONGLY straight and have NO desire for a sexual thing with females. the interest just isn't there -- the male body just does it all for me. but i totally don't mind if others swing a different way. if i were younger i might even check it out ... but no, probably not -- i don't ever remember having any interest in anything other than fabulous male arms, male hands, male shoulders, male hips, and, of course, the essential male equipment. mmmmmmmmmmmm... kphiker
