So today is my last full day here. I'm no longer doing any work so I've just been dinging around today enjoying the sights. At some point I remembered that someone had given me a gift certificate to a yummy bakery in Eureka (a town about six miles south of Arcata) so I thought I would go get some yummy - and of course extremely unhealthy - baked ( Read more... )

Jeebus! That has to be one of the weirdest things I've ever heard of. While I don't think that laughing at a gun weilding crazy is necessarily the *safest* thing to do, I'm strangely proud of you for doing it. Maybe now it will click in Mr. Nutball's little brain that he's not being as cool as he thinks he is.

Yeah, it was a little sureal. I think the only reason I was able to laugh is because I didn't actually believe it was happening in the moment.

Yup. Dinging bells. All day. Big bells, little bells, doorbells, ceramic bells, brass bells.

It's my new hobby. In fact, I'm going to start a church bell choir. That is, as soon as I start going to church.

And the guy, I guess he was hill-billy-esque, but he was wearing what looked like an over-sized sailors cap. So maybe sailor-billy?

Yeah, my guess is it was nerves that make me laugh because about five minutes after it happened my whole body was shaking.

Oh no no no no! Silly Eureka people! Arcata people don't have guns. Okay, so that it's a bit of an over-generalization there as I'm sure someone in this town does, but this event most definitely occurred in the middle of Eureka, not Arcata.
