I'm back in the cyber world for a few months

Got out of the field on Wednesday. Was originally planning on leaving the field early but then some crazy stuff went down and I realized how much I didn't want to leave so I stayed and missed the first two days of school. Whoops. Oh man, never, EVER watch FOX news. It is run by the devil.

And I'm sorry about the family friends' divorce. I actually know how you feel. My mom told me that a couple of family friends who I have literally known my entire life were getting separated. I felt like it was a personal attack against my childhood. In happier news, they got back together :)

I hate FOX news but my Dad was watching it and I was involuntarily sucked into it by its evil tractor beams of death. I'm not too sure how I got out alive.

We should hang out some time! My next week or so will probably be pretty crazy, looking for a place to live and all. Know of anyone who needs a roommate for the next three months? Ha, if only it were so easy.

How's school going?

Ug. Well, I literally have to deal with the flakiest person ever on a daily basis, *If* he shows up on a daily basis. Worse news is, he is also the boss of my TA, my voice teacher, and the head of the opera department. So I'm pretty much stuck sucking it up big-time.

Music history is fun though! Ooooo, chant dialects!

Your reaction to the news reminds me of the reaction I just had to advertisements in general. I went to see a movie last night, and watching the ads before the previews, I figured out what it is (or at least one of the things) about advertisement and our media and entertainment and consumer economy that really bothers me. It all adds up to leave the viewer/consumer perpetually unsatisfied. We can never have enough stuff. We can never be beautiful enough. We can never have the beautiful people flaunted in front of us. I think the thing that bothers me the most is the commoditization of people and sex.
