Parking lots and moving violations, like failure to stop at a stop sign, I knew about. On private property like a store parkinglot, a stop sign is a guideline, not an enforceable law.
Depends on a lot of factors. My subdivision is all private streets, which would limit the county police's authority, but we have an agreement that the police can enforce traffic/parking code.
The part where she claimed that the wheel suddenly broke and dragged her into the mailboxes was kind of amusing. Especially after the kids playing in the street got out of the way when they saw she wasn't paying attention, then watched her slowly drift over into the mailboxes.
Actually there are exceptions. Reckless driving, DUI, and parking in handicapped spots, IIRC. Also if the owner of said property asks the cops to come there and enforce stuff. But anything not requested has to be fairly egregious for the violator to get in trouble.
So what, and I'm just throwing this out there, would happen if someone accidentally cut down a flaming tree and dropped it right on the middle of a gas tank that happened to be sitting on top of her cell phone?
that is just stupid. What would have happened if she hit those kids? Hopefully someone with half a brain takes a good look at the laws over there and makes a few changes.
That sounds weird ... I can see the federal officers having jurisdiction over the mail because tampering with mail and delivery is federal ... but the local law enforcement should have jurisdiction over the reckless driving, especially if there were witnesses willing to give statements.
Are you sure they're not giving you this "no jurisdiction" BS to get out of doing paperwork?
