Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?
Yami is a short motherfucker. He's a few inches beneath five feet -I am ignoring canon here, because with the proportions in the show if he's over five feet then all his friends are seven feet tall- and he's very thin and frail. The majority of his looks come from Yugi, so Yami is nearly as pathetic as he is.

2. How old is he?
Over three thousand years. ...or rather, he's been dead that long. They never say how old he was when he died, but he couldn't have been much older than twenty. He's also been adopting a lot of Yugi's mannerisms, so sometimes he acts like he's in his late teens. He's got this mysteriously old and jaded side to him too though, so there's that.

3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?
Oh Yami struts like a boss. Shoulders back, chin up; the posture of an arrogant son of a bitch.

4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?
Yami's pretty healthy as far as being dead goes. On the boat he'll have his own body and it'll be just as healthy as any other.

5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?
Yami's pretty graceful and fluid. He even draws cards with a flourish.

6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?
.........I really just cannot comment on this. I guess you're supposed to view him as attractive, but his hair is so ridiculous and the animation is so bad I can't call him that. Yami probably thinks he's hot shit, though he really doesn't care about romance or all that silly business.

7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?
Yami's complexion is Yugi's complexion, so pale little Japanese boy. When he was a Pharaoh though he was obviously black (though like most Japanese animators he was just drawn like a pretty white boy only with dark skin). He'll probably tan whenever he can manage it while he's on the Elegante though.

8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style.
RIDICULOUS.

9. What color are his eyes?
Purple. Sometimes they're reddish or they're glowing all white when he's using his dark powers though.

10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?
...the hair and the eyes aren't enough? Okay, he wears a stupid amount of gold jewelry (or anything will do if he can't get his hands on gold) and he refuses to wear his jacket like a jacket, instead hanging it on his shoulders like a cape.

11. What are his chief tension centers?
His face; his jaw and between his eyes.

12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?
FLASHY AND REALLY GAY. Not like neon-colors flashy, but like...bondage slave flashy. It's so unsightly, it really is.

13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them?
He seems comfortable in them, though why anybody would be is a marvel. They're tight and leather. Seriously, who the hell does he think he is?

14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences?
Yami (unfortunately) dresses however Yugi dresses. Sometimes Yugi wears some really boring stuff, which makes him all depressed and not-fabulous.

15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?
COMMANDO. ...actually, whatever Yugi goes with. Which is probably briefs. B|

Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?
DAN GREEN No. I'm using his Japanese VA, so he's kind of average but can sound extremely commanding when he feels like being proper.

2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate?
Yami is pretty steady; not too loud, not too soft. He doesn't often whisper or murmur, but it takes a lot of aggravation to make him shout out of anger, too.

3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?
He sounds somewhat proper; that is, oftentimes his speech patterns are way more formal than a normal teenage boy's is. He doesn't often use slang, and sometimes he'll forgo contractions, too. If he's startled or has an outburst he might use something like "Hey-!" but he almost never curses worse than just things like "damn" and "hell."

4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency?
Japanese, fluent. If he ever remembers his past life, he'll speak ancient Egyptian fluently, too. Yugi's studying English (reluctantly, and is terrible at it), and Yami is even worse so he probably only know a couple words in addition to card names and such, which are usually in English.

5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations?
No, not really. :|

6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words?
Yami is oftentimes quiet when he doesn't feel it's necessary to speak; he likes to let other people reach what he believes to be the correct conclusion by giving them the silent treatment. He also doesn't really like to talk about himself, but that's mostly because he doesn't know anything about himself. He's not a bad conversationalist, he's just not very practiced.

7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?
Yami, when he chooses to do a speech, is eloquent enough. More than the average teenage boy, at least.

Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?
He's a genius when it comes to puzzles and games, but otherwise he's not all that sharp. He's pretty people-stupid, and the only knowledge he has of the world around him is what he's overheard from Yugi. Although he's very observant and a fast learner to boot so sometimes he can pick up pretty quick on things.

2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?
Yami likes to set up plans and have things to fall back on, but if necessary he can think on his feet too. In puzzles and games, he's pretty good at doing both but in other things he usually just flounders around. Classic nerd stereotype.

3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?
Yami probably likes to say he's logical but he's not. He's very emotional, and sometimes does some very questionable or even stupid things because of those emotions.

4. What kind of education has the character had?
Whatever bits and pieces he's gleaned from Yugi.

5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about?
GAMES. GAMES GAMES PUZZLES AND GAMES. And he would like to learn more games.

6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert?
Introvert except for when he's showing off.

7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?
Yami is usually kind of aloof and detached, unless he's with people he's comfortable with. He'll be friendly with them, sometimes even joking, but for the most part he's not very expressive unless he's playing a game. He seems to keep his cool pretty well, but there are certain things that will get him riled and he has no problem showing just how angry he is whether through threats, retaliation or just by being angry as hell.

8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?
Yami likes to remain silent and bide his time. He usually has decent instincts, despite not having been in the world for thousands of years. He watches people very carefully, though he doesn’t go out of his way to do so. If they approach he usually lets Yugi and company fill in the silences and observe through Yugi’s eyes.

9. Is he more likely to act, or to react?
Yami can do both, though he’s more likely to react unless something seriously bothers him. He doesn’t usually pick fights for absolutely no reason; any time he’s tried to hurt someone has been for the sake of revenge, so he’s definitely not the type to throw the first punch.

10. Which is his default: fight or flight?
Oh fight. Definitely. If it’s something he can combat, he will fight it. But he’s also not stupid and his very first instinct is to protect Yugi, so if he’s not capable of doing that he’ll make sure Yugi runs first and then will follow.

11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?
His sense of humor is both in the sarcastic, dry and occasionally even cruel. Not to the point where he’ll snicker if someone falls down and breaks their nose, but he does laugh when he humiliates his opponents. Back when he was eviler he’d grin and laugh when he was tormenting people’s minds, sooooo.

12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them?
Uhhhh not diagnosable ones. His soul has been kind of warped by the Shadow Realm so occasionally he’ll be unnecessarily cruel, but he’s working on that because he knows Yugi doesn’t like that side of him one bit.

13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person?
Well, there have been a lot of moments in his childhood, but he doesn’t remember any of those just yet. I guess when Yugi put together the puzzle, when he stopped him from essentially killing Kaiba and when he found out that he used to be a Pharaoh.

14. What does he fear?
Yugi abandoning him, and him accidentally getting out of control with his powers.

15. What are his hopes or aspirations?
…make Yugi happy? He’d like to know more about his past, but that is a far, far second to making sure Yugi has everything his little heart could ever want or desire.

16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him?
Uhhh really there’s nothing he can think of. He’d like it if word about him torturing those few people when Yugi first woke him up wasn’t spread around, but it’s not like he’s desperate to contain it. It seems like every time they meet someone new they know more about Yami than he does, so while it’s annoying he’s getting used to everyone knowing his business.

Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents.
Yami doesn’t remember his parents but if he did he’d remember his father was loving, strict and foolish. He doesn’t remember his mother because she was probably just some courtesan meant to give the Pharaoh a male heir. Most likely Yami was taken from her at birth (or maybe she died in childbirth) and was raised by wet nurses.

2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?
Yami was an only child, but again he doesn’t remember his old life.

3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand?
Nope.

4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them?
YUGI YUGI YUGI YUGI YUGI YUGI

Yugi is his entire world. I swear they would be considered life partners if Yami had romantic or sexual interest in him. It’s exactly like having a second half to your soul, so one could even argue that him adoring Yugi as he does is, by extension, loving himself. Either way Yugi is his alpha and omega and he comes before all else.

5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?
YUUUGIIIIIIIIIII

Yami met Yugi when Yugi put the puzzle together and woke him up. First thing he did was possess him and go drive a bully to insanity. That’s how he says hello.

6. Does he have other close friends?
Jounouchi, Anzu, Honda…Bakura and Mai to an extent-ish. The last two are more like acquaintances. Jounouchi, Anzu and Honda are Yugi’s friends and so Yami considers them friends too, though he’s a lot more awkward around them than Yugi is. They just learned about him a few weeks ago (technically) so he’s not sure if he should count them as friends, though he’s come to view them as such.

7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people?
Well considering he lives vicariously through someone else I’d say he has difficulty making friends. Plus, he’s kind of withdrawn (get it, because he’s in the puzzle) and reserved, so if he’s left to talk to someone it gets verrrry awkward. See his “date” with Anzu.

8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends?
Well since he doesn’t remember his father, I’d say friends. …even if he did, he’d probably still say friends.

9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once?
Nope |D

10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?
Yugi EXCEPT NOT. No, he’s not in a relationship with anybody and I’m not sure he ever will be.

11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest?
Nobody. :| Although Anzu has this mega-crush on him, to which he is probably completely oblivious.

12. What does he look for in a romantic partner?
He doesn’t. Or rather, he doesn’t now. Maybe when he was Pharaoh he was looking for a strong woman with good features who would bear him a good heir. Probably with big boobies. :D

13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any?
NOPE no kids.

14. Does he have any rivals or enemies?
HAHAHAH YES HE DOES. Seto Kaiba. He is a blowhard who is constantly talking about defeating Yugi (but he really means Yami, he just doesn’t know Yami exists and even if he did he doesn’t believe in all that ghosty ancient-Egyptian-in-a-puzzle BS) and being high-and-mighty and throwing his weight around and being a dick. Yami has fun dueling him because Kaiba really is very good, but otherwise he’d rather just kick Kaiba in the face and be done with it. Fuck socializing, the guy is obnoxious.

15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the Kinsey scale?
SO GAY. Actually he just kind of acts like that now and then, but idk what it would be. At this point in his life he has no sex drive.

16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him?
See above. D|

17. What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?
B|

Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does he fit type?
NOPE and I don’t feel like looking for one just now.

2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life?
Oh he is. He follows all the ancient Egyptian practices that I am still reading up on. …or rather he did when he remembered them. But he’s still very spiritual (PUN) and believes in powers beyond human comprehension (mostly because he’s used them) and gods and all that stuff. They are very important to him considering they define his existence and also somewhere deep inside he still has that somewhat fearful respect for the Egyptian gods.

3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?
Uhhh he does. It was probably a lot nobler when he was alive; he was one of the kinder of the Pharaohs of the past, but once his soul chilled out in the Shadow Realm for three thousand years things kind of got a little twisted up in there. He sees nothing wrong with punishing someone for their crimes against someone he cares about (he calls it “trespassing” on someone else’s soul). If you fuck with Yugi or one of his friends, he will fuck you up straight into the loony bin and not feel bad about it at all.

4. How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?
He thinks people who don’t believe in things when the evidence is right there in front of them (IE Kaiba refusing to believe in Shadow magic WHEN HE’S EXPERIENCED IT) are stupid as hell. Otherwise he doesn’t care.

5. What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them?
Yami doesn’t really have any prejudices. Though once he gets his memories back that might change.

Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?
N/A

2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him?
Well he used to be one of the most powerful figures in all of Africa, but now he’s just some ghost haunting some middle-class Japanese loser. Kind of a step down.

3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others?
YUGI’S SOUL. Actually on the boat he’ll be living in his own room, though I doubt he and Yugi will sleep in separate rooms very often.

4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on?
CARDS 8D

5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else?
Uh well he doesn’t live, but he’s pretty freaking good at games and stuff. And he fucking loves that shit.

6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time?
GAMES GAMES PLAYING GAMES

7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?
Eating is going to be very interesting for him, considering that Yugi’s the one who does all the eating. He’ll probably forget until he’s like “WHY AM I SO TIRED /TRIES TO FLIP A TABLE BUT CAN’T” and then Yugi will go “have you eaten” and Yami will be like, “….I have to do that?”
