So I have this theory I would like your thoughts on:

Every day, human beings are granted a finite amount of will power. If a person expends all of that will power on one task, then there is none left for other aspects of that person's life. While I would love to argue that human beings, in fact, have an infinite capacity for self-restraint, the ( Read more... )

hypothetically speaking of course...

I think this is something that makes sense in theory, but not in practice. I think a person's restraint in ALL aspects is up to them. We each make our own decisions about every aspect of our lives, that's what free will is all about.

umm...hypothetically, of course...I think a girl in such a situation should proceed with extreme caution. She should keep in mind the hypothetical struggles she might or might not have had over the last few hypothetical months.

I'm not denying that different people have different tolerances for self restraint. I feel like limits must exist fir each of us, though. If that's true there must be a way to quantify it...

Hypothetically, that girl is probably like 99.5% sure she's not going to go see her friend while she's out of town, so no worries. Afterall, diets don't count on vacation so no wasted will-power there! I'm allowing a .5% variable for the effect of alcohol on her decision making...

The point was that, on that day, hypothetically, the urge was stronger than it ought to have been.
