Winter has arrived

For everyone who hasn't heard yet, it is snowing in Buffalo--in October. And because Buffalo, who claims to always be prepared for this type of weather, was unprepared, there is a kibosh on water usage and some places don't have electricity ( Read more... )

You have absolutely no idea how jealous I am of you guys. No school! And the dorm has power!

Bored?

Why the hell haven't you fortified the dorm yet? There's plenty of snow to build a serviceable outer wall, and I'm sure there's enough for a decent amount of ammunition. Besides, you've got Elise for a lookout. She's tall and her hair is high visibility. All you have to do is lie in wait until Dr. Butler or Leiderbach walks by, then BOOM, ambush. You can reenact Tim O'Brien novels. Every kid wants to play Vietnam, right? Emily can be the crazed blood-thirsty marine or something. You get to be Joker. Or you can fend off the cold and somewhat zombified horde of commuters. You are missing a valuble opportunity.

By the way, I'm trying to write a text adventure (interactive fiction? Google it) using Honors House as a blueprint. So if Buffalo doesn't turn into a postapocalyptic nightmare (you can call it SnowWorld and pretend Emily is Kevin Coster) you'll have that to play with. I hope.

Ohhhhh, Alex, we need to catch you up on something: Fr. Leiderbach is no longer at Canisius...he was apparently "let go," but that is a story for another time.

And Buffalo is not turning into a postapocalyptic nightmare--at least for GMH. I can't speak on behalf of the other residents, some of which still are without power.

All of the snow is pretty much gone now, so unless we can figure out a way to make fortresses out of mud and grass and fallen trees, that idea is not going to work anymore.
