The swallows have flown from the nest, but they keep returning at night to sleep. So we're not completely empty-nesters. It's somewhat amusing to see 6 birds trying to fit into one nest.
I'm working madly on a baby blanket and quilt for my boss, who is due in 3 weeks. AND I splurged today and bought tickets to Spamalot for technogeek1's birthday. (My ( Read more... ) -

When we arrived home tonight there were 3 little swallows sitting on the edge of the nest, and one little head tucked in behind. Given that both parents were trying to get us to leave by flying at us, I'd say there are 4 babies . And it looks as if they'll be leaving the nest soon. It appears there are 3 females (cream coloured front). Each seemed ( Read more... ) -

Well, there are three little sparrows who will soon be leaving the nest. (I counted 4 heads there two days ago, but one may have been one of the parents.) We've enjoyed having them here, even being "dive bombed" by the parents. And we'll miss them. On the plus side, however, we won't have to clean the doorstep quite as often. -

House Filk
We enjoyed the house filk yesterday. There were 13 attendees in all, and music was even being contributed by the neighbours . Thank you to andpuff, smoooom, janeg, hofdave, jhayman, phillip2637, sposter, technogeek1,and everyone else who attended. The air show and the birds only added to the entertainment. -
Babies
Yay! There's at least one baby swallow in the nest above our front door. I saw a little mouth open for food as I arrived home tonight. This will make the third lot of babies from the nest. (Although if they keep adding mud, there won't be room to get into it next year - it's so close to the roof of our porch.) -

Tonight we're going to a birthday party for my great-aunt. She's 95! She is an amazing lady - very intelligent, as active as she can be with her advanced arthritis, and more acute mentally than others 20 years younger. I'm glad to have been able to get to know her, for she is a true inspiration.
