As I sat down to try and craft a meaningful Livejournal entry, I realised that I have completely lost the passion I once had for social and political issues. Not only do I not want to discuss them, I feel as though I can bring nothing new to any such discussion. I'm going to have to stick up for everyone else. I recognize that political discourse, especially as practised by people around, oh, 15-24 is uninformed, speculative and above all asks the wrong questions (and provides the wrong answers to boot). And, yes, political discussion is divisive, unproductive and therefore meaningless for the most part ( ... )

Personally, I don't bother in taboo social issues anymore because half the world will think I'm a pig however way I go at it.

I just decide for myself how these social issues will affect me (No woman will ever abort my child sort of thing)

I was with you up until the point at which you said the world is fine. Whilst your world may be fine and you may be okay, the rest of us are fucked. And actually, when some of the things being discussed in politics catch up with you in 10, 15, 20, 40 years, whatever, you will be fucked too. I can, with complete certainty say that the world is not fine, life is not easy, everything is not okay, and, basically, we're all fucked. But really, we're all going to die anyway so it's not the worst news ever.
