Low expectations, in no way, equates low disappointment. Disappointment is like a gaping wound; while you can ignore the hurt of it at times, it still stings, the pain creeps on you in spite of your facade on being unfazed. And disappointment, like shame and embarassment, penetrates to the bone. It eats you alive, and sometimes even consumes you.
