Just finished Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (after having picked it up this morning.)

Good! Very good. Way better than the last book.

Although confusing. Snape....good or bad? I kept getting the "thoroughly bad" vibe from snape, but that's probably because I'm reading from Harry's POV. Then there's the "...but he had to do it to save Malfoy" angle, and the "Dumbledore was already dying, and Snape wanted to put him out of his agony."

Then my friendslist appears to also be proponents of the "Dumbledore was possessed by Voldemort (Imperius?), and the real Dumbledore begged Harry to kill him while he was under the potion's influence. ...and Snape killed him to keep his cover.

Gah. and it'll be *years* until the next one. Gack!

Oh, and R.A.B? Regulus Black? Or someone else?

Quidditch? Not so much the thing in this one. Ditto for classes and most of the academics.

I kind of liked Slughorn, though. Very much petty understandable evil.

I was really amazed by the depiction of life under threat, though. Well, done, I think. Poor Mrs. Weasley! Mortal Peril at all times. I need to reread it a few more times, I think. When cosmicdolphin is done, I think. And then on the plane ride across. and once more when I get the british audio version.

Next book will be the hunt-for-the-pointless-Horcrux, and no Hogwarts at all, I think. Yow.

So what did you all think? (for those of you that care. I'm not really expecting an answer from some of you (yes, I mean you, piratedan.)

All told, a really good book. Recommended!
