I have to admit, you were the other person I was thinking about as I read about the sale. They also have the new Roborally for sale, btw, along with the Battle Cattle card game from sjgames ;-)

Actually, I bought the Battle Cattle card game and it wasn't very fun. Yet it was expensive!

Did I mention I bought the new Arkham Horror board game? It's neat. Co-operative, but easier to win than Lord of the Rings. (Though by no means a sure thing.)

heh. Not terribly surprising for a sjgames product, though :-( (re: battle cattle.)

No, you didn't mention (re: Arkham Horror), and isn't it fabulous! I've been waiting for it to be rereleased for years now, and instantly snapped it up when it was finally put out.

I'm not so sure about that easier to win thing. Depends on your Old One, and how many players you have, I think. We've spent a number of games staring the Old One in the face, or doing the "pray for no more gates" routine.

I've been liking the cooperative board games of late ;-) Need more of 'em (and particularly good 2 player varieties.)

On other nonrelated gaming notes, just found a online version of Dune! Now I just need to find players to try it out (it's either local or internet play).

So many fun games... vimnelius October 27 2005, 19:43:40 UTC
Thanks for the tip! Alas, I barely have time to play VtES these days, let alone branch into things where I don't already have an established player base :(

One tip for the Rainforest expansion: I play with the house rule that if you have elytra and wings, then you can crawl around in hindering terrain as if you didn't have wings. Rationale: beetles have achieved the evolutionary success that they have by being able to have flight while not having to worry about tearing their wings on stuff (the damage prevention factor is secondary at best). :)

neat! I think I've only played Insecta once, and that was a very long time ago.

Just so many games, and no time anymore :-( :-( :-(
