Well, it was later than I wanted (we were in the last run), but it was fun!
I was Velma for our run, and our Scooby and Shaggy were great fun (shaggy courtesy of
feldrax.
cosmicdolphin was Rasputin (yes, don't worry, it really didn't need to make sense.)
Very very short game this year out, with some really great Scooby Doo moments (Daphne constantly getting kidnapped, musical interludes, losing my glasses as Velma and calling everything Shaggy, and the run in and out of doors while being chased by a Monster.) Essentially, the game was 2 hrs, and very action-packed (almost no investigation or problem-solving.) That's ok, mind, as action-packed can be fun on occasion, and this one certainly was.
Highlights: crawling through the cube (this is a monster 3d cube maze, created for an earlier LARP, and truly insane to navigate through. ...and they rebuilt the entire thing in their house!), discovering the mummy, having the egyptian room's ceiling fall in on me, running in and out through the monster-chase-kids door sequence during the musical interlude (in the rain!), and Rasputin waving gothic Cthulhu about. fun stuff!
Only sad part....last Whately :-( :-(. What am I going to do for insane LARPs now? At the end, during game wrap up (which was way painful just from the time), they hit the various highlights of the years of Whately, and G. and D. (the gamemasters) are truly nuts.
The years of whately:
1) Let's build the inside of an egyptian tomb!
2) Let's have live vivisection!
3) Let's build a crypt, custom trick coffin, and custom trick
4) Let's build a massive tunneling structure off of the top of our house (and cube maze)
5) Let's build a full mad science lab, including working raising platform, and windmill to burn!
6) Let's take that maze and build it inside our house (and oh, yeah, build several trick walls and doors.)
I'm going to miss it.
