If you have an old external modem lying around, there's info on the tivocommunity page on how to use it to dial out. (Of course, it may not be your TiVo's modem, but they're a common failure point-- bunj ordered a kit to replace his when his TiVo stopped updating, and that fixed it. So it may be worth a try.)

Alternately, if you have a Series 2 TiVo, you can get a USB ethernet adapter and use your broadband connection to get the data you need.

well, yeah, that was what my post was about ;-) (Looking for people who are using USB adapters and which brands they are using, and if they are local...if I could borrow one ;-) )
