Wow. Slint - Tweez is so fucking different from Spiderland it is almost hard to believe it is the same band. Listening to this, you can certainly hear its precursor-ness, but it is hard to believe that the band that wrote this underdeveloped record managed to write an all-time classic a mere two years later. I miss the days of basement shows. The days when the audience consisted of members of the other bands, and a handful of other people who figured that for five bucks you couldn't really go wrong. That aesthetic is what Sleepytime Trio - Memory-Minus reminds me of. A band giving their all, even in front of an apathetic crowd of ten. This was mid-90s ( Read more... )

I have tons of CDs I've never bothered to rip for whatever reason. As such, many of them I have not listened to for years. Some of them I've probably not played since before moving to Russia, nearly six years ago. This week's voting was rather heated. It seems like sympathy for the bankrupt nation of Iceland abounds, as Sigur Rós - Ágætis Byrjun ultimately won. Scared of Chaka is a fucking great band. Up til today, I only had their self-titled debut ripped, and that was ten tracks of garage punk goodness.
