Writing my JPN hist paper on the Rape of Nanking. Its pretty depressing stuff. While doing websearches on the subject, I found a lot of rather conservative Japanese webpages either downplaying the 6 week rape and murder of Nanking, or downright denning that it ever happened, writing it completely off as Chinese propaganda. Seems like conservatives of any nation are so ready to downplay any wrong their country has done to any other people or race. Being Korean, I grew up with a lot of resentment for the Japanese for obvious historical reasons, so hearing this seriously pisses the hell out of me.
The reality and burden of such a history really must have taken an emotional toil on that author.
