lizardbeth_j was nice enough to remind me in yesterday's post that our very own Michael Trucco celebrates his birthday on June 22. In his honor, why don't we try to:

So pretty much everyone on Battlestar had a horrible childhood and were completely estranged from their parents even before the attacks, but it's my personal canon that Sam's childhood frakking rocked. Cavil had a Three drop tiny baby clone Sam off at a no-questions-asked safe baby drop on Picon, thinking "Mwhaha, no one will ever love this child." But Sam got adopted by this wonderful couple who owned a dockside bar and played in a community pyramid league on the weekends and just adored him. And even after he became a big-deal pyramid star he still called them once a week and they came to a lot of games and they were just the sweetest, best family.

Aw, I love to think of a happy little Sam growing up. I tend to think of him planted as a teenager or even a pre-teen and therefore an orphan, but I always think of his memories of his parents and family as really good ones.

I used to have a head!canon for Sam's childhood, but it changed to accomadate canon or other things, AND THEN HE WAS A CYLON, and I think I gave up on head!canon for his childhood. (which is a roundabout way of saying, THIS WOULD BE AWESOME, make it so, Ron. But not with hideous comicbooks.)

Oh, hey! Also I wrote this little thing once because it amused me to think that Sam and Gaius might have been friends. Then it was going to transition into Sam and Kara tromping around New Caprica having lots of sex discovering things, but I never got around to that part. If anyone wants to Round Robin, you're welcome to have at it.

Title: Honeymoon

It all started with a note.

K,

Gaius Baltar wants to meet with us at 5pm, if you can make it.

Love you,
S

To be perfectly honest, the 5pm threw her even more than the out-of-the-blue request from Baltar. Quirk of being married to a civvie she wasn’t sure she’d ever get used to ( ... )

AWKWARD. Poor Kara. And yet. *giggles a lot*

Sigh. One of the things I'm always sad that we missed was the exploration of New Caprica!

LOLOL. "Frakked the same women" and Kara's right there. HEEEEEEE.

Yeah, I tend to think that Sam and Gaius at least have met each other. "Friends" would be a stretch (while I think Sam is plenty smart, I don't think Gaius would give him the chance to prove it) but acquaintances who might party together I could buy.

LOL, please, if it were any other context, Kara would be like "Lots of ladies in the past but now it's mine to tap, frak yeah I'm awesome."

Certainly weren't homies by any means, especially considering that Sam seemed to have 0% interest in Baltar's trial (granted, some other important stuff was happening in his life, but, you know.) But they've totally partied.

That's not the crappiest haiku at all! Even hybrid!Sam needs happiness. (Maybe especially hybrid!Sam, but really it's probably just me needing happiness to make up for Sam's fate.)

Let me tell you how
I feel about your haiku:
Sam loves her always.

(I really like it. The more I read it, the more poignant it is.)

Here are a couple of old Kara/Sam fics (but I'll see if I can conjure up something new today, since work promises to be slow):

Gotta Jump

They Travel in Packs

Shut Up and Kiss Me

How could you resist a Cylon like that?
