Okay, folks, let's Round Robin straight through next Sunday.

They found the bodies at sun-soaked McCarran Hill after noon. The blood was fresh, bodies warm. Six were dead, their identical dark red bandanas marking them as members of the Cyrus gang.

The seventh body had taken a bullet just over her left hip, but she still had a pulse. Sue-Shaun's and Ten-Shot's efforts to check her out roused her, setting her off like a feral cat reaching for guns no longer strapped to her hips. "Get your godsdamn hands off me!" she hissed, jerking her arms out of their grasp and then grimacing in pain, one hand covering the wound. "Who the hell are you people?"

"We're friends," Sam told her, stepping foward with one hand resting on the butt of his gun.

"Right," she spit out in disbelief.

"You've got a bullet in you. We can help."

Kara held herself still, gauging her options as the gang surrounded her. They were watching her with just as much suspicion, and she wished she'd been able to stay conscious. Having her guns would make her feel much more confident.

Then again, maybe not.

The tall frakker who seemed to be their leader had his eyes raised, and spoke again, his voice quiet. "We're not gonna shoot you, if that's what you're worried about."

"Already did that," she snapped, trying not to wince as any movement made the wound throb in pain. But it was clear they weren't about to kill her--they'd've already done it, otherwise.

"Anders--we gotta get outta here before the shots attract unwanted attention."

"Wouldn't want that," Kara said as she stomped forward, giving into the inevitable for the moment, "After all, you're all such lousy shots, I'm not sure you've got enough ammunition left for anyone else."

Western!Kara. Still the hottest thing ever.

There were two ways they could play it, him and Sue and Ten-Shot. Sure, they could go ahead and take the credit for the bodies lying back on the hill, all six of them, and have themselves a hostage here. It wouldn't be the first time a case of mistaken identity had led to their little crew being blamed (or lauded) for an act of sabotage that really belonged to the Doral Brothers. They'd been tracking those boys for over an hour when gunshots drew them to the massacre.

Or they could be honest, and honestly, they needed all the help they could get. Times were wild out here, every man for himself. Sam caught Sue-Shaun's eye, then Ten-Shot's, and shrugged.

"Don't make a wrong move," the girl bristled. "I might be the one who caught the godsdamn bullet, but that won't stop me from taking on your sorry asses ( ... )

Oops. I should have asked, then forgot.

Should I change the settings so that everyone can use subject lines? I'm pretty sure the custom comment page for this layout still has them.

Oho, I completely forgot about that! Obviously used to layouts that still allow for subject lines.

Could be handy, but we could come up with a way to work around it so you don't have to change anything?

It's really just one setting change, to add custom comment pages as the default. So I'll just do it.

Then if people want it switched back, I can change it (I know there are hacks to change the stupid new pages, but I've been styling=mine for ages, as they slow my browser down ridiculously)

bah. Not so easy. I will poke it another time.

No worries! We'll figure something out.

There is this script in the meantime, if anyone's interested. It'll attach subject line fields to the new comment pages.

Idea #2 - exploring New Caprica lizardbeth_j July 9 2012, 00:35:49 UTC
The rain was coming down in sheets, turning the path outside the tent into mud and the space inside the tent into a steamy, grumpy mess - and that was just Kara ( ... )

The pre-flight checkoff was…a decidedly rough hour in the history of their relationship. She’d already cursed the Raptor itself, the clipboard, her tools, the state of machinery on New Caprica, the Chief, the pilot who’d last flown the Raptor, and Sam. Although apparently she wasn’t out of curses ( ... )
