*sighs* I recently applied for several freelance writing jobs, offering to write letters for the financial community. The three "editors" I send work to told me I "took grammar and spelling too literally." They informed me grammatical rules "don't apply to advertising copy" and that clients wanted certain words purposely misspelled because MOST AMERICANS MISSPELL THEM AND THEY WANT THESE PEOPLE TO FIND THEM USING THESE WORDS ON SEARCH ENGINES!!
I'm flabbergasted... oh, and I couldn't use that word because it's "outdated and people don't know what it means!"
Can we just burn down all of the goddamned business schools? Please?
Also... yes, people do misspell words when typing. I do it, too. There are ways to HIDE the fucking misspelled words in a web page instead of just looking like functionally-illiterate trust fund brat business school graduate assh-HEAD EXPLOSION!!!!!!!
I saw those guys on the Today show and they were smug, self-serving bastards.
@pyroguysr, I know just what you mean. 28 years in advertising and there are certain grammatical things that the client requires to be done incorrectly. Scratch my eyeballs out now!
Ex: Great homes now selling from the 240's (makes me want to scream)
