So this was prompted by the lovely unreckless, who told me "900 words about changing sheets on a bed." It's, eh, not exactly that.

Summary: In which Amelia gains, loves, and loses.

Even though we don't hear much about it, Jimmy/Amelia/Claire's story is just as tragic as Sam and Dean's. As much as I'd love see more of Amelia and Claire, even if it's just a small scene of Castiel trying to give them his sympathies (which would be fucking heartbreaking since he's using Jimmy as a vessel, it would weird them out beyond belief), I can't see Kripke bringing them back into the foreground. But you captured the tragedy of her situation perfectly. ♥

Jimmy's family is just another one of those instances where the show has ruined someone's life and then just kinda...expects us to forget about them. Not only did Amelia have to deal with her husband going crazy and then vanishing, she'd have to deal with the sympathetic looks and whispers from her community for a year. (Was she a psycho bitch? Did he find someone younger? Did she not recognize the signs early enough?)

Then, on top of all that, Jimmy comes back, and he brings nightmares with him. Heaven isn't paradise, angels aren't good, demons are real and lethal. She gets possessed, shoots her own husband, and nearly loses her daughter to the same angel that had taken her husband away. In the end, she's still left without Jimmy, and with a couple of cooling corpses in her house. What can she do? No one will ever believe her. In any case, they'll certainly take Claire away. Her life is ruined because of Castiel and the demons that followed in his wake ( ... )

I loved this! Just beautiful. The way it's all tied together by the image of bedsheets makes it extra intimate - all these little snippets of such personal moments, sweet and sad. I really hope Amelia's okay. :(

I really ended up not liking where this had gone. I might need to revisit it, and this time without 900 words holding me down.

Also, be honest with me here--do most of my things end up sounding the same? I feel like they do.
