(begin religious post)

I went to see The Passion of the Christ today.

Sometimes I think the best Christians AVOID organized religion.... it's a nice concept, but it falls prey to too much screwed up human thinking too quickly. My floor is going to see the movie this Friday (so I get to go for free or half price) so I'm hoping to go them. I'm intrigued, if nothing else. I hope it's not horribly emotionally manipulative... and more genuine.

Well, it does have several *cut to his mother and show how sad she is* moments. I don't know that I would call them emotionally manipulative, but I suppose that's the point of them. "Look.. look.. feel sorry for him!"

i have mixed feelings on the idea of this movie (i haven't seen it nor decided if i want to). i have this sneaking suspicion that this is from the same people (not literally, but you know what i mean) who brought us the left behind series. "let's scare/guilt people into christianity." (sidenote: a song from mariah carey unplugged just came on my launch station--reminds me of you saying this is one of your favorite mtv unpluggeds) i agree that i don't think this will "convert" anyone. but don't get me started on my ideas about conversion and so on:)

one of these days, i'm going to get around to writing a rant in my journal about pop christianity. i never have time to when i'm all worked up about it.

my spiritual life is looking more and more like yours lately:)
