I saw it happen several thimes at Best Buy, where kids bought games, and then their parents went apeshit when they saw the content. I felt bad for the employees in the video game department, since they got ripped a new one practically every other hour.

Kinda along the same vein, I remember having customers come back to me, literally in tears, because their new computers had broken down on them within two months, or that they were holelessly obselete already. What sucked was that several times, they'd tell me they wished they had listened to the sales guy, but that they wanted to save a hundred bucks. If they had spent it, they'd still have a good computer for at least 6 more months, maybe even a year. And don't get me started on the protection plans either.

I think you are too old and crotchety to remember what it's like to be 15 and not have a choice if your mom says no to a video game. ^_^ Sure, the guy at WalMart was right to clarify the content before the sale, but it's still frustrating to be denied a game because of boobies. It's especially frustrating because you know you've seen boobies before, and you know you'll see them again. . . and it's not like they're that central to the game. It would be hard to jerk off to. :-P

Video game violence depresses me because I think it's symptomatic of larger societal problems, which are depressing. :-P Censorship is not the answer. But what is the answer? Who knows! This is why I'm depressed all the time. :-P

Pft. I couldn't watch rated R movies until I was 17 or 18. Meanwhile David used to watch that stuff when he was 8 years old. I remember. Oh yes.. I remember. :)

I'm understand that the kid is frustrated because he can't get the game because of some stupid pixel boobies.. that's what I'm saying is dumb. If you're not going to buy this game for a 15 year old because of the boobies.. I think that's retarded.

At least I can lend *some* credit to the theory that video game violence might lead to real world violence.. but what do video game boobies lead to? As you said.. certainly not jerking off. That'd be pretty sad. :)

Yeah, but you got to watch all those movies with real people in them back when I wasn't allowed to watch basically anything that wasn't animated. :-P

I don't necessarily think that video game violence leads to real world violence, but they're both symptomatic of an obsession we have with violence and aggression. And badness.

Hey, if I stooped to using Archie comic books as erotic material. . . (Preen more, Veronica! Isn't it about time for another beach party??)

This, ladies and gentleman, is referred to as a "show stopper".

Depends on how sheltered the parent wants the child to be ( ... )

That's fine with me.. if you're going to be careful with everything, then no violent video games.

I agree with the hypocritical hating.. :)
