What about the boat times?

So yesterday my dad and I went boating for the first time in a while. We set out into Baldwin county looking for a boat launch that a friend had told him about.. and ended up finding one a few miles earlier. It wasn't the fanciest place, but I'll tell you this- it was about as Alabama as you get. Bunch of old trailers on the road leading to it ( Read more... )

That's really exciting! And it really is kind of a big deal, considering they're thought to be extinct. I hope, next time you go, that you do get a picture of one (if that's what you really saw).

Dr. Hill would probably like that, since it'd get him even MORE grant money to search them out.

I've talked to Geoff about ivorybills in Alabama, and he said that if there -were- any birds in Alabama, they would be in the Mobile-Tensaw area. he didn't think it was entirely likely, however, as they like old growth swamps, and there has been a lot of logging.
so that's really cool!
I know some people around Theodore who think they might have ivorybills too.
It seems to be the taking of pictures of them that seems to be the problem! xDD
getting a picture of one perching would be even better than one flying, since they've got that huge white triangle on their back. I don't think any other bird has that, so it would be hard for people to write it off

I keep looking for them in Florida every time I go out on a boat. Have yet to see one, but I'm convinced they're still around.

So this Dr. Hill is an ornithologist? Where is he and how can I find him? *immediately forms a plan of attack and usurping all his free time*
