You know what really stinks about sharing my name? There are at least two other authors out there with my name. One writes icky vampire novels, and the other writes "inspirational" stuff. Now I feel like I have to change my name if I ever decide to actually publish. Bluh.
There's a scholarship in oregon with my name on it for that someone established when his daughter with my name died... This actually makes me smile, because it's a medical scholarship. If I lived in oregon, I'd be eligible for it. And recipients have to be interviewed by the guy. And I'd hate to be responsible for a heart attack if he saw his daughter's/my name on the list of those eligible for the scholarship. But since I don't live in oregon, I won't be responsible for my name causing him a heart attack. Ah the things you can learn by punching your name into google.
Dude! It's not like you have a really common name, either!
Yeah, I learned about the vampire lady and the inspirational lady by googling. I've been trying to figure out what name I would go by in the publishing/speaking world ever since. I'm not into the hyphenated last name, and I'm not wild about my middle name...it's a nice enough name but awfully dull-sounding when put with my first one. It sounds all house-wifey and perky, like the name of someone who wears seasonal print turtlenecks and cute cordouroy jumpers and bakes lots of muffins.
