So far it doesn't. It could begin to look that way, however, if we refuse to give more. Fortunately, in addition to our government's aid, independent contributions are seemingly pouring in from around the world.

And as the article says... Bush wants to give more. See, he isn't all bad. :)

But another argument that I have heard... It isn't our job to give our money away. But I don't agree with that.

sorry if this is scattered... i'm listening to my youth pastor now

I just thought of this... if we experienced a natural disaster - would other countries give us money? Have they in past? We always pull the money out of our own pocket. We are giving aid... but why don't other countries ever help when we have a natural disaster. Why does everyone expect America to help them... but NO ONE is willing to help us? Things work both ways

again, sorry if this is broken up... I am listening to someone so yeah... heh... hopefully you can get what I'm saying

I'm not saying that we shouldn't help, but why do we RARELY recieve help from other countries. *sigh

Other countries don't give us money in the event of natural disasters because A) We don't really have massive natural disasters. Sure we have Hurricanes and earthquakes, but we are developed enough that even these things rarely kill more than a few hundred people. And B) They don't need to. most other countries in the world, not to sound arrogant here, could empty their treasuries and trash their economies giving us money, and it would be chump change in comparison to what we already have. Plus, we've got things like the national guard and the red cross, so we don't even need volunteer workers from other countries to help. In the case of the current situation, you've got poorly developed countries who are not nearly as organized to deal with a disaster like this. The fact that these countries are poorly developed alone accounts for the high death toll. Also, in the aftermath they're going to need all the help they can get to re-build. We are expected to help because we can.

A nation can only resemble the temprament and mentality of it's people.

That being said, we are governed by what we "deserve". What governs one is a representive of what one would do if they had the power, opportunity, balls and/or required intelligence.
