You're supposed to buy the Pro Cymbals Expansion Kit.

What I had heard was that all drums should have a pro drum track, because of the way they were coded to begin with. That doesn't mean it's any good, of course, as evidenced here.

Have you tried this with some other older content and seen if the pro mappings are just as bad?
