Here's my recap from my X-mas escape to NY:
It was fuckin' cold, yo!
Seriously tho...
Day 1ish: Escape from LALong Beach.
Work was rediculously slow feeling and felt like it took forever. Fox was kind enough to bring me a change of clothes as I had to leave straight for the airport. And once I was there I spent forever 2.5 hours waiting for a plane that should have been leaving after my first hour there. The ride wasn't too bad to Los Vegas tho. And I spent 10$ on a poker machine between flights and won nothing. Insert R.J. MacCready comment of "Cheatin' Bitch". The trip to NY was also smooth. All of my plane landings were amazingly smooth <3 Mom picked Ashley and me up from the airport and we went to breakfast before going to the house. Which is eerily huge and expensively furnished. I got to meet the amazing German Shepherd my mom got. Baron was 50 pounds of awesome. I got settled in and ate lam chops before going to see Baron graduate puppy classes.
Day 2: Enter the dragon brother.
Some stuff happened. Mostly me dozing off while my mom cleaned or watching TV on my mom's huge HD tv. Oh... and stopping at a pizzaria for NY Pizza followed immediately by a chinese resturant for batter fired shrimp. Hellz yeah. World's Deadliest Catch is lke horribly addicting for me. Little Ashley was getting along well with the two chihuahuas, Chibi and Peanut. She was so good following them around. Ashley got free roam on the laundry room. The other dogs had their own kennels and all. Rob and his girlfriend showed up at the airport that night. Much argueing about eating of seasame cakes ensued. That and my brother's dog Maverick is ADORABLE. End.
Day 3: In which Callie was tortured entertained with decorating.
The day mostly consisted of watching TV and preparing for the catering that my mom had ordered. DELICIOUS catering. Shrimp Parmesian. Baked clams. Stuffed manicotti. Eggplant something or other that I didn't eat. OMG. SO MUCH FOOD. And then came the hellish balls of Christmas tree lights that my mom made me untangle. And by 'made me' I mean "I just said 'OK'". At least I got to do it while watching THE MOST AMAZING TV SHOW ABOUT CRABBING EVAR. Although the sudden bitchfest my mom's fiancee decided to have was a bit frightening. Blah. Eventually my brother and his gf Stephanie put the untangled bane of my existance twinklies on the tree. My mom and I spent later on in the night decorating with the ornaments. The 5 dogs were totally happy.
Day 4: Sand and Claws!
Christmas! There was much leftovers. Oh were there leftovers from the catering. Still delicious. That and amazing cozy PJs my mom got me. My mom spent a while wrapping since she was amazingly busy with everything else. But eventually she got stuff done. I walked away with a bath item gift set, a pretty blue Ipod, some Ipod stuffs, a promise of a Blue-Ray player from my brother, and some jewelry. Fox's side of the family also got me a bunch of cash and some arting stuffs. Steve(my mom's fiancee)'s daughter and her fiancee finally showed up with the baby. She's 4 months old. Cute. But poor thing is gonna have a tough life. Mom and dad are only together for her. Most of my nights are still spent watching HD tv. Movies and [adult swim] spattered occasionally with Chiller tv and Syfy stuff.
Day 5: And then the day of rest.
We mostly just hung around and did nothing. And by nothing I mean my brother and his girlfriend kicked my mom and I's asses at making gingerbread houses. But they got the NON-EXPIRED box. So many nasty wise cracks. It was amazing. I am a horrible, horrible person and shan't repeat any. Afterwards, we went out for AMAZING pizza. OMG. My favorite pizzaria opened a 2nd location by my mom's new house. And it is SO GOOD. Just the way I love it. I also discovered 2 things. 1) I actually don't mind Calamari. 2) Stephanie kicks butt at Scrabble. My mom and I got hosed yet again. Steph is actually really fun and interesting. I hope things work out for him.
Day 6: Ricky don't lose that number.
I was so ill this day. And by ill I was mostly just blah and tired and nauseaus. Jet lag finally caught up with me. That and the fact that I was up until 6AM EST and waking up 5 hours later the past couple of days. I spent most of the day sleeping. I excaped long enough to say goodbye to my Rob and Steph and Maverick. My mom came home a little while later. With Maverick. Apparently my brother felt so guilty having little Ricky home alone and depressed that he wanted him to live with my mom until he had more time for the guy. I feel bad for Rob. He loves that little dog so much. I again spent my night on my laptop in front of the HD tv. I also realized that my mom's house has a ghost* at this point.
Day 7: Empire state of mind? fucking song
Red, Red, Red! We hung out and it was awesome! At first he was frightened of the house on the corner that looks like the Bate's manor. Especially since it was eerily empty. We went to the Staten Island Ferry and hung out for a bit before I finally got the brilliant idea to CALL the person we were supposed to meet up with. Harper and Ryan were fun. I met Harper in a MMO and we got to chatting. He lives in Queens. We hopped on the subway and spent the whole time chating about games. It was AMAZING. Then we hung out and played games, chatted bunches and watched YouTube clips. So nerdy amazing! Then Red and I got lost in the Subway for a little bit. And by lost I mean stared blankly at the track for maybe an hour before hopping back on the N line that we hopped off at the R. Oh yeah... I was on a boat mother fuckers. Twice! Said goodnight to Red after some time spent warming up in my mom's kitchen.
Day 8: WTF did I do?
I think I lost a day? Well...not really. But I really didn't DO much. I got my hair trimmed, wandered about town with my mom a bit and did some shopping for stuff. I got bras. )_); It was an adventure. And took forever. Then my mom made amazing shrimp scami for dinner. OMG. So good. I spent a little bit of time in my room before hearing a tell-tale beat from the TV and thought, "Nah..." before realizing that 15 minutes later I was right and someone was watching The Thing. I then made myself a nusance in the living room again. Space Diabeetus. <3 Packing was hellacious. >.<
Day 9: The journey home.
Thanks to that wonderful attempt at terror on Christmas, the airport was crazier than normal. I left my checked bag with my mom because the lines were rediculous! It ended up beig a good choice because I had to fight my way through security with my dog before running to my gate. I sat down in my seat at 8:09am. My plane was supposed to take off at 8:05. Lucky! We were in the air 10 minutes later. Smooth ride mostly, some turbulence. Good service. Got to CA an hour early. Happy to be home, kinda miss my mom and NY. Ah well.
*The ghost is strange. I always close my door tight. I make sure it can't be pulled or pushed open. It's my cat's fault. In the morning my door would be open. I asked my mom about who was opening it. The response? No one touched it. And I commented, "Then you have a ghost." Her answer was, "Yeah. It hides things on me sometimes too. Or plays with the lights." So then I was like, "But the lights are on a timer." Mom said "Nope, no timer." Sure enough we were in the living room later and the lights went off before the ceiling fan turned itself on a few seconds later. This had hapened to me a few times before (without the fan) over the nights, so yeah. Creepy. Ah well.
There you go! NY in a horrible long ass entry. HAVE FUN TAFFIE.
