[This is Mai, stomping down the stairs at the back of the teashop, then proceeding to slam shut any doors that she walks through. Cold fury moves her, as she forcefully shuts the doors to put as many boundaries between her and the rooms upstairs. Between her and Zuko, who she left upstairs in his room.
Her anger was pretty clear in how she is moving, but her face shows nothing, blank and expressionless as she stares ahead, paving a direct path out of the building. She doesn't take notice of the rooms that she passes through, or the people in them. And there's also a good chance that she might bump into someone if they don't move out of her way.]
omg LOOK WHAT YOU DID MAIhatersbehatinMarch 11 2011, 15:01:44 UTC
[Okay, so there isn't a whole lot that could get Mai to lock up in attention, possibly in fear...
Iroh, yelling like that, does it. She doesn't even think to freeze like she does, which is very much like a child would do when they were being yelled at by a parent. Except pretend that parent was a powerful fire bender that could take down an entire army fleet with his /breath/. Something like that.
It's only a moment though, and once it's passed, Mai comes back to her senses and pulls away from Rapunzel as if her touch burnt her skin. Her words coming out in a hiss.]
Get off of me!
[She can stand up on her own, and continues batting away any hands that try to help her. Once on her feet, she wipes a sleeve across her face to clear away as much dust as she can. Then. She turns her head to take in her current situation. sigh awesome.
The Avatar hiding behind Zuko gets a glare before she turns her attention back to Iroh.]
I was just leaving.
[And with that said she turns herself to make her way outside of the teashop. Scared of Iroh

GEEZ MAI WAY TO RUIN EVERYTHINGo_tea_pMarch 12 2011, 02:18:22 UTC
[As when a fire flares, Iroh's temper quickly settles again, and he regrets his outburst. Rapunzel looks terrified, even Mai looks like she might possibly be shook, and the Avatar is hiding behind his nephew (which he finds rather disconcerting).
No one seems willing to actually answer his question...not that Iroh really needs them to. Of course Mai would attack the Avatar on sight. Of course Rapunzel would try to intervene. How could anything but chaos ensue?
He briefly contemplates stopping Mai from leaving. He has known her since she was a child, and he does not like the idea of her walking out alone and upset into a strange world. But she is neither his daughter nor his niece, and he doubts that he could hold her here without brute force. Better to let her go and collect her thoughts in solitude. He can seek her out again later, make sure that she is safe and has somewhere to sleep.
For now, there is only one thing he needs to make clear.]
Mai. The Avatar is our friend. I will not tolerate any attacks on him.
IT'S OKAY GUYS, ZUKO TTLY KNOWS WHAT HE'S GETTING HIMSELF INTO....pyromaticsMarch 12 2011, 03:19:47 UTC
[Zuko really can't blame Aang for hiding behind him in fear of Mai, but he's supposed to be the Avatar! He shouldn't be cowering in fear because of one girl.
Either way, he doesn't look back at the younger male. Instead he looks between everyone and as soon as Mai announces that she's leaving and then his uncle is speaking up, Zuko takes a step forward.
The discussion that had taken place between them earlier is pushed back. Zuko also won't tolerate any attacks on the Avatar, for three reasons: 1.) Zuko considers Aang to be his friend now, 2.) Aang's the Avatar, and 3.) They're not here to fight, they should be working on keeping the peace between one another in spite of what took place back in their world.]
And neither will I.
Where are you even going to go? You just got here-- you hardly know your way around the City.
[Neither the words of Iroh or Zuko get Mai to slow down or look back. She does tilt her head enough to talk back over her shoulder. A bit of venom working into her tone.]
Whatever. Save your breath for someone that cares about what you traitors have to say.
[Then she continues out the door, her arms crossing in front of her as she makes her way to the sidewalk to walk down the street. She'll be fine and figure out what to do on her own, okay?]
[Aang just doesn't want to hurt anyone! When Rapunzel was in danger, he was ready to take a stand and protect her. When it comes to himself? He will run, and run and ruuunn if it buys him more time to try and talk some reason into the person. And hey, hiding behind Zuko proved to be useful!
Sighs in relief and steps out from behind Zuko. Rests a hand on the back of his neck and he glances around the room before looking back at the others.]
Thanks for stepping in guys. I didn't want to fight with Mai. I wish we all came from the same time, it would make everything so much easier. But we all became friends eventually, so maybe in a few days things will be better.
[Rapunzel, meanwhile, bites her lip and looks at Iroh.]
...I'm sorry I got involved, Mister Iroh. I just wanted to help...oh! I cleaned up your kitchen, by the way. It's actually in relatively okay shape...and if you need any other help with cleaning up and rebuilding, let me know!
[Zuko's too busy watching Mai walk towards the exit to notice the look from his uncle. He says nothing while everyone else talks and moves past them, frowning to himself.
He can't just let her go off on her own, even if Rapunzel seems to be heading in that direction. And after their little incident upstairs... spirits-- Zuko really can't just let her leave, where is she even going to go?!]

[She smiles at Aang and nods a bit.]
Thank you very much for protecting me.
[Aaaand then she runs off after Mai.]

And thank you, Rapunzel.

Let her go, Zuko. Chasing her now will not help. Once she has time to calm down, we will find her.

She doesn't understand what's out there.

So long as there are plenty of things for her to throw...I think they'll be just fine.
[Gestures for Zuko to come with them so they can have a conversation in private.]

Mai's tough, she'll be okay. I mean I didn't want to mess with her and I'm the Avatar!
[Offers a grin that's kind of silly looking before he clears his throat and steps off to the side.]
I'm going to finish cleaning up in the room I was working on. If you need me for anything I'll be there.

...Thanks. And. Uh-- sorry about that, Mai attacking you. I might be to partially blame for that...
[Annnnnd Zuko frowns, going off to follow Iroh for their little discussion.]

So. You and Mai.
