Although, I'm no fan fo the continuing coddling and patronizing that Lieberman continues to receive from the Senate leadership; in other words, this guy should have lost all his leadership positions (chairmanships and other perks). However, the comments by Morrow strike me as more than a little bigotted, and based on these comments I think I could understand why Isabelle feels the way she does. NO MATTER, how one feels about the health care issue is not an issue of religious preferences or lack of same. And it is helpful in any way to frame it as a religious matter. (framing political issues and discussions in a religious frame works out so well (dripping irony here); just look how it's improved the situation in Ulster). You'll no doubt take this very badly and I'm thinking of deleting.

The comments I've quoted don't strike me that way. I think the comments I've quoted adequately stay within a message that Lieberman is a sanctimonious ass who uses his religiousity as part of a shallow claim to moral seriousness. And uses that same religiousity in a fashion counter to the values the author discerns in the leadership of said religion. The stuff that follows regarding Orthodox, Reform and Conservative factions, as well as the Biblical exegesis is a bit more eyebrow-raising. I think we'd agree that those components are a bit uncomfortable.

If it's meant more sarcastically than I just first read his comments, then I'll revise my reaction. On first reading I took it as an unwarranted attack against LIeberman's religion. Lieberman is a ass, that becomes more and more apparent with every day the discussion goes on.

Another point regarding the US Senator from Conn. Why does the Democratic Senate leadership continue to coddle and patronize to this guy? Harry Reid, this guy deserves to be thrown under the bus!
