Flashback to last may. Mike and I wanted our own herb garden. We had talked about it several times. One night, Me him, and FeLicia are at Wal~Mart, and spot a kit. 5 herbs, 5 pots, and a holder for the whole affair. Approx. $10. We decide to get. Then we decide its not enough. Sweetie, for dried herbs - there's a neat muslim store right by the mosque in downtown. Also, Hyvee sells loads of dried herbs in their bulk section.
Then parsley is available in any store - fresh and plenty.
If you want fresh rosemary - they have it in the little boxes in Shnucks, but the price bites. Generally speaking it is to late in the season to get cheap fresh herbs anywhere in town. Our herb garden is gone too, it is after all the end of November.

hy-vee has some. you might try patricias. and i highly recommend herb de' provence, easily available at both hy-vee and clovers.

look at alton's recipe for a brine. i don't think it involves that much in the way of herbs. and if you can't find anything you can afford, don't worry about it and just don't do it. it's not a huge deal.

as for pans/utensils i recommend, cake pans and a 9 inch springform pan. for cheesecakes and the like. good muffin tins

And, continuing my string of classy replies to your LJ entries:

You know that "roasted chick breast" is a completely different concept than "roasted chicken breast." Those two little letters make a world of difference.
