We had been there since 10am.

Its a big cast and a big show. It should be expected to run long.

Yes it's a big cast with a big show, but there's no reason it should be running as long as it has been. It's been running this hard because Pete keeps changing the blocking every 5 minutes, and when he's not changing the blocking, he's re-designing the lights. If it's still running this kind of long on Monday, we have a serious problem.

And I feel soooooo bad for all the actors, because you guys were singing all day. Especially Kevin and the others whose voices were petering out near the end.

The reason he was still directing was because he felt it was his last chance cause were just doing tech runs after this. He said he was going to be directing. He shouldnt have been..it shouldve just been a cue to cue. But hey thats life, we gotta deal.

You think the changing blocking is tough on you? lol. We have to absorb the new blocking and do what he wants. We're there til 10 30 every night. Its our job...we shouldnt be complaining. We put ourselves in this profession/department. Ive been sick all week....i didnt want to be there...but I sucked it up.

Not trying to argue, just explain. pyrotekknik April 17 2006, 08:41:42 UTC
Oh no, I'm not saying the blocking changes are hard on me. I'm saying it's too late for them, and you guys shouldn't have to put up with it at this point. Remember, I used to be an actor too, so I feel for you guys on stage. I'm just bitching about how last-minute this production is (because it shouldn't be) and how crazy Pete is (because he is).

The main problem I have with Pete's astopping-and-blocking is from Friday, when he was directing the stand-in techies to be the actors so he could get the look he was going for, even though a) the techies weren't going to do it, and b) he was never going to get the actors in those positions again. But whatever.

And that note about Pete that I put in the main entry is basically just because he shouldn't be directing at that point, because we need to get used to doing runs of the show, straight through, all of us. Not because I was so tired of him doing it Friday and Saturday.

PS - Glad to hear you singing Saturday, hopefully the sickness is all gone now...
