Speaking of painful, I highly recommend seeing The Room. The writer/director Tommy Wiseau also plays the male lead, and he's hilariously awful.

NPR ripped the movie a giant new hole but for reasons I didn't expect. They said the movie was a pandering, stupid movie that enforced Arab stereotypes.

Now I'm not going to say that I'm ever going to see this movie (I saw this show... twice? And both times I had a gorgeous MIT grad student grinding ontop of me) but I don't think that this is the type of movie to cary stereotypes on its back either.
