That made me laugh. Maybe that's part of why every Korean person I meet is shocked I even know where their country is, let alone have an interest in their language and culture and hot actors and pop stars.

But anyway, yeah. It's a problem. In one manga I read (Jackals...don't judge me) the black dude is of course monstrously huge and ugly. Sigh. It's like, should I be glad he's there at all, or just annoyed at the portrayal? Argh.

So, I'm not really familiar with Jackals, but I looked it up and the art is pretty... And then they said the city was "infested" with immigrants and I was like...wha? But hey, if it's a world where there are supposed to be people of all races, then they'd damn well better have a black guy! Yeah, there are black dudes who are huge and ugly, since there are people of all races who are huge and ugly... It's good that he's in there, but if they're going to make him a horrible character, then maybe there should be two or more black dudes? IDK, so some of them can be awesome and make the manga not racist?

The art is gorgeous, that's why I like to read it - it's by one of the guys who worked on Final Fantasy something or other. Of the two creators one is Japanese and the other is Korean.

But otherwise it's kind of made of fail. It's not original in any other sense. I don't know why I keep reading it. Oh right, the prettily drawn guys and the homoerotic subtext. And lots of fighting. Yeah.

Exactly, there should be a variety. I guess it's good that he's not the ONLY ugly guy, even if he is the only black guy.

Mmm...they have nice abs. Very convenient how no one (who is hot) likes to wear clothes that cover anything. And the swords...are they even swords anymore? Or just slabs of rectangular metal?

I can't stand how they almost always have to put tan (middle eastern) characters with blond hair... Black hair looks better give them black hair!

Ha! I think if they gave them black hair, they would look too much like the Japanese characters. So they think, "Ooooh~ Tanned skin and blond hair is sexy and different!" and "Screw realism! This is all for fangirl fantasies!"

...Or something like that.
