Oh wow, I can't describe how much I'm impressed by your work. I would never expect this level of knowledge and understanding of Polish history from foreign person. You are amazing - I read everything you write and every next story makes me a bigger and bigger fan of your talent ( ... )

Oh gosh, thank you, this is such a wonderful thing to hear! (It's always a bit of a relief when people from the nations that I'm writing about like what I'm doing to them. XD) I've always been so interested in Polish history, I guess because never ever giving up is one of the things I find most compelling, and Poland is probably better at that than anywhere in the world. I still don't know nearly as much about Polish history as I want to.

this period is depresing isn't it? >_>

Kind of ultimately so. ._.

I like it a lot - maybe not in a typical pairing wayI'm open to the idea of Poland and France having a romantic or sexual relationship at a few points in their history--Napoleonic France/Duchy of Warsaw seems kind of, um, obvious to me, anyway--but mostly I imagine them kind of...admiring each other while being faintly exasperated with each other, and never really having all that much in common. A very interesting relationship, but not really set up to be an ongoing romance. And in 1864 I'm pretty sure Poland would rather have ( ... )

Now you making me blush again xD;

Anyway - I agree about possible romance in Napoleonic period - it makes me think about that person: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Countess_Marie_Walewska. I think that Poland is one of not many countries in Europe that still have warm feelings for Napoleon XD;

You have no idea how happy I am after reading it <3

Awesome!
Can't have a more constructive comment, I'm afraid but I really liked it. France and Poland are in character, there's history, and well, I loved Feliks' fighting spirit and France's... calm and WTF-ness.

Thank you :)

Yes.

Poland's dogged, almost superhuman perseverance is once of the things I've always found most fascinating about him. I mean, yeah, most nations have had to push through events that would have killed an average person a thousand times over, but Poland's history is simply rife with them. I feel like it's really easy to write him off as a character just because he's so over the top, but you always treat him with so much respect, and I really admire that. I love that your fondness for him always shines through.

Also, France. There has never been a moment, for as long as I've known him (that sounds weird, but you know what I'm trying to say), that he hasn't made me simultaneously swoon and flutter and think. That sound you hear is his "I'm sorry" swordpoint exchange with Russia being deposited securely into my headcanon.

I'm always a little bit embarrassed when people say things like that--I mean, I do try to treat all the nations impartially! But...Poland. I love Poland. I can't help how much I love Poland! Because he is Poland, and I pretty much find that great in every possible way.

Oh God, because by that point, the Grand Army's retreat was in complete shambles. France and Russia must have had at least one or two run-ins before France limped across the border to Poland.

Dude, if you really, really like a character, it's gonna show. 'S not a crime. XD And besides, it's not like you totally dump on other nations in favor of the guy. You just happen to think he's rad as hell.

I, uh. I kind of need fic of that now. ._.

I keep begging Linden to write about them at this time, but she's always washing her hair. ._. Or, you know, "having an exceptionally busy real life"--or whatever.

Oooh, Poland. His rage and fear really leapt off the page, and it is a thought, isn't it- what happens to occupied nations, when their language and culture are being wiped out?

It's total metaphysics-of-the-nations stuff, but I love that stuff. =D

Oh, marvellous! I love both Poland's despair and the determination that follows. His disgust at forgetting his language and the collection and safeguarding of his culture are just perfect.

It's a situation Poland must be pretty familiar with by this point. Grim as it is, he knows what he has to do.
