1. Skillet sensations - you can't beat tearing open a pack of "Chicken Voila" into a frying pan and 10 minutes later having a delicious garlic chicken pasta dish ready for you, enough to eat half then and take the other half to work for lunch the next day.
2. Microsoft Money - this program helped me immensely in the bills department. It's much easier to spend an hour or two setting it up and then let it do all the dirty work for you. I just get the occasional blinking light reminding me to pay a certain bill, etc.
Just two things I discovered that helped save a lot of time when time was short.
See, that requires knowing which of your pots and pans is the frying pan. And I'm woefully underskilled in that particular area. I can (and do) microwave, though. And the bills aren't that bad, really. I know it sounds like a cop-out, but I know that having a desk would really make my life easier. I like having a central place to stash and process stuff. That being said, tomorrow I shall have to call IKEA and see if my table-top is in...if it is, I may be forced to run down and get it, just on the principle that it never seems to stay in stock for very long.
