Ender's Game and the rest of the series can so not be called 'real books' as compared to Harry Potter! For one thing, the characters in HP are reasonably realistic... I liked the Ender quartet but unfortunately I think I just know too much about the author to be able to appreciate them and ignore the sexist, outright incorrect ideas he puts forth about his character's motivations.
I wasn't referring to Ender stuff as real books. The sci fi tangent was a separate thought. I don't know enough about them to be able to say whether or not they are important(at least to me) in the literary sense.
The real books I have with me are "Women" by Charles Bukowski, and "On the Road(original scroll!)" by Jack Kerouac.
There aren't many sci fi books that I'd classify as real, but there are a few. "Stranger in a Strange Land" being the first notable one that comes to mind.
I'm hoping to receive something to read in the mail from a couple of people!
