Yesterday, I was walking to my martial arts class when I decided to detour through a part of the neighborhood I had just discovered the day before. That's pretty horrible. There's so much abuse out there, so many people 'slipping through the cracks' as I call it, it's heartbreaking.

That said, some of the most enriching experiences I've had have been randomly wandering, as cliche as it is. Have you spent much time in New Orleans? Despite all the over-hyped stuff about it, there are great neighborhoods to wander through as I did when I was a boy. As an adult, I also drove through some ghetto areas that were scenes out of hell or at least a post-apocalyptic film--random things burning, trash all over the place, gunfire and the worst, the people stuck living there.

I still don't know whether that was a cry for help or whether that was a sign or that was something random that my brain is attempting to create a pattern for.

I never visited New Orleans. I do enjoy wandering and exploring ... on foot. It isn't the same encased in a car.

Exactly. And that is also why the head and the two retainers need field agents. The two retainers are anchoring the heavy magic, and if there is a Demanse, she's probably rarely going to leave. Besides, as powerful as she is, people come to her, not the other way around ( ... )
