Title: Coda Written By: a_short_detour Timeline: Post Season 5 Rating: NC-17 Warnings: None Genre A little Angst, a little Romance, a little tying up of loose ends
Brian's a little slow sometimes, but when he gets it her really gets it. Some of my favorite things about this story didn't directly involve Brian and Justin: Hunter's faith, Ted's encouragement in the face of fear, the idea that Brian and Michael growing apart was a natural consequence of life rather than being anyone's fault.
Not that the Brian and Justin interaction wasn't wonderful. I love the idea of Brian wanting to be part of the life Justin has in New York and Justin understanding that Brian knows the most important parts of him.
Yeah, I think one of Brian's most important personality quirks (and one that people often overlook) is that while he's good at making snap decisions in a pinch, it actually takes him a while to process things.
As for Ted, I totally want a spinoff where he runs Kinnetik with Cynthia and is ridiculously successful.
A "little" angsty didn't quite cover it for my taste but I made it through and it was absolutely worth it. Love Ted's loyalty and Hunter's faith in Brian, Aaron is a wonderful OC and Mikey, well he's Mikey - no loss losing him IMHO
In the bed across the room, Justin groans, turns over, and yawns, which Brian knows means he’s about to wake up. He’s never seen anyone else in the morning consistently enough to recognize how he starts his mornings, so he’s never going to tell Justin that he likes the way he yawns and then blinks a few times and then stretches his whole body, bit by bit, until he’s spread the full length of the bed, sleek and beautiful. Justin would piece that together and figure that Brian was getting soft in his old age, and he wouldn’t let Brian forget it for years, if ever, and Brian would probably have to kill his smug little ass with a machete, and it would all be bloody and messy and not fun enough to warrant the effort. Awww, so lovely

I loved it. I freakin', psychotically loved it. I especially wanted to point out that it almost seemed as if the voice changed during Ted and Brian's diner tete-a-tete. It became a lot more introspective, I guess, while we were viewing Brian through Ted's perspective.
I love stories that involve all the characters (well most of them.)
Ted and Brian's interaction was so well done. Ted bravely nudging Brian into making a decision (and Brian knowing it had to be done). Their friendship was so well done.
Hunter and the line "sometimes he wonder if Michael saw Brian at all" was perfect. It made me laugh. I loved that the gang was betting for them instead of against.
You vividly portrayed Aaron and we got to know him so well in a short period of time.
And, great props to "love involves sacrifice". (Take that, Cowlip.) It does and is better for it.
Yeah, love does involve sacrifice, and compromise, and learning how to modulate yourself to fit with someone else's rhythm. It's not this monolithic LOVE that C/L seems to see as the absolute end-all.
I probably shouldn't get into my agh, stupid Cowlip rant here, though. :P
