I’m not sure, but I don’t think I ever posted about how I found Queer as Folk.  It’s not really exciting, but if you’re interested,

Thanks to all you talented people out there who have posted banners, vids and fic. Althought I don't have any of those talents I'm quite happy to share my addiction with all you wonderful people. Put your feet up. This is long ( ... )

Hee, I got into QaF via a crossover fic too -- with Harry Potter. :-) And I too started my fanfic reading days on fanfic.net, which makes me cringe a bit now. ;-)

Thanks for running the comm this weekend! I didn't manage to post anything, but I tried to read and comment as much as I could.

I really enjoyed reading about how you found QaF! Thanks for sharing! :)
I also found QaF through fanfiction. That was around the time Season 3 was released on DVD. It was completely accidental, because I never actually read fanfic before that. And I've never been a fan of any other tv show either. It was strange, really. Anyway, I didn't know what was going on at all, but somehow I liked the characters of Brian and Justin in the story I read. I decided to find out more, I discovered some clips and I knew I needed the DVDs. That was a tough thing since I live in Germany and it took me some time to be able to afford them, but finally I had S1-S3, fell in love with Brian in S3 (it was the first box that I got) and by the time I had watched S1 it was love for the entire show.:) I was a lurker in the fandom for a long time. I wasn't particularly happy with the things I heard about S4. And later S5. So, while I do own the DVDs, I never watched all of them. I'm such a chicken, I might be able to read about it, but there is no way I can ( ... )

There was a lot I didn't like about 4 and 5, but I wouldn't give up watching them, at least once. You're missing the cancer arc. Ted and Brian's blossoming friendship. Emmett finding Drew! I'm laughing because I can't think of any other good stuff from those seasons! *facepalm*

Oh, don't worry, I did watch most of S4. I think all except a handful of scenes (I know which ones to skip :)). It took me some time, but I watched it. Especially because of Brian and Ted.:)

I know the problem.;)

S wouldn't let the DVD's out of his hot little hands.
I understand that. I don't give my DVDs away, either, I'm so scared that something happens to them. /dork. =) And normally I'm a very generous person. But I host cozy qaf nights at my humble little flat with a bunch a qaf newbies every so often, that's my way of spreading teh love. <3

I find it interesting that you found queer as folk via the Buffy fandom. From what I've heard quite a few people did. I was a fanfic virgin before qaf, I had no idea that such a world existed.

Thanks for sharing your story with us. :)

Yeah, I don't get the Buffy?QaF connection, but it was surely there. Must have been all the hot guys! Someone wrote a fic in which Buffy saves Justin from a vampire and then they end up commiserating about their similar boyfriends (tall dark and brooding, emotionally stunted, etc.). Truly hilarious. If you're interested, I can dig up the link for you
Spreading the love, any way you can is good! Keep up the good work!

I started my fanfic reading in the Buffy Universe as well. Hence the user name and the cat called Spike. LOL!

And then QAF started here in Australia on tv in 2000, and I was hooked. After the deries ended and I was so disappointed in the ending I came looking for fic to "fis" the ending and have been here ever since.

And just to say thank you for having this brilliant idea, it has been fabulous reading all the wonderful posts.

I wanted to get a new cat so I could name him Spike at the time! I made do with my Chuck and Stash.
I'm so happy you enjoyed our weekend, sweetie. Thanks for contributing!
