I played Tuba in high school and even for a year in college (UNM marching band). I was not the most dedicated or talented musician in band (or even my section) but I had a good time and enjoyed playing. Now fast-forward many years and I am thinking about picking up an instrument again. I am leaning towards starting again where I left off, with ( Read more... )

Hi.
I noticed you'd friended me so I thought I'd pop over and say hi.
And say that I'm rather curious to know how you found me...
Anyway, I friended you back.

Sorry, I meant to introduce myself, but I was out of pity remarks.

I saw your post on alibi_factory's friending meme and thought that both it and the "friending meme" concept were both interesting. So I friended you.

Anyway, it is a pleasure to meet you, and welcome!

omg lol! I did sorta start wondering, y'know, with the pity remark thing...
Oh, yeah, that friending meme. Of course. I remember that. I had to ask, y'know (I'm much too curious for my own good). It was a weird meme, wasn't it? I laughed, left a wanna-be ironic picture, went away again and promptly forgot all about it.
Nice meeting you too, yeah.

Ah yes, the daxaphone. I think I have heard of it... wood strip with a guitar pickup somehow mounted to a sound board, right? The sounds it makes is somewhat reminiscent of a musical saw, if I recall. Which reminds me, when adux and I were visiting Dallas a few years back we saw the Dallas Symphony Orchestra play a children's concert that featured a Therminist who also played the Saw as well. I previously had no idea that there were professional saw players, and that they could get a gig with a major orchestra.

Actually, I think playing something entirely new is a good bet- you won't be frustrated by it, thinking 'arrrgh, I used to be able to do this!!'

I vote electric harp!

True, I can be frustrated in new and different ways! :)

I have to admit that I do find the harp idea very appealing. I mean how many people do you know who play the electric harp? And you can use the same effect pedals as for electric guitar if you want! Just the thought of playing a harp through a cheesy wah-wah pedal makes me smile! The only thing possibly cooler would be an electric harp and theremin duet (with a Roland 303 and and an 808 for bass and rhythm)!
