Happy Holidays

So, we had our small family Hannukah party on Tuesday night. We trekked all the way up to my Nana's house in Richmond Hill (oh god the weather was so bad and nobody knows how to drive anymore), where my aunt, uncle and cousin were staying, having just arrived from Ottawa.

Unfortunately, when we got there, we found the apartment in a state of panic and disarray, because a bag containing close to a hundred dollars worth of presents and groceries had disappeared. My uncle had left it in a bag on my Nana's walker the night before, and when he'd gone to wrap the presents, they were gone.

Turned out my Nana's cleaning lady (who we've always known wasn't too bright) had thrown the entire bag into the big recycling bin in the basement, because there were some newspapers on the top of the bag. And she'd left the ACTUAL bag of recycling sitting in the apartment. My uncle had gone down to look, but the bin had been almost empty, and the cleaning lady had been there that morning, so we assumed the load had been taken away.

The cleaning lady wasn't answering her phone.

Finally, after we'd opened all the presents we DID have, the cleaning lady called back. She was all "OMG I'm so sorry, OMG I didn't know, there were papers on top of it, etc." But more importantly, she told us that the recycling bin had been empty when she'd gone down that morning.

So my cousin Avery, Will and I all traipsed downstairs to look around. At this point the bin was about a third full. However, Will heroically climbed in, and dug around for about 15 or 20 minutes, until he finally found the bags of stuff.

So, I got the deluxe DVD of Chicago after all! Yay!

Also, Will is awesome.

The end.
