Ehhh, being a fan of history, I see a lot of Rome in the USA. Nations (and cities) rise and fall: Athens: Prussia: Sparta: Rome: Britain: Spain: Germany: The USA - It's just a vicious cycle that no collective unit in power seems to want to break.

The USA cutting space spending reminds me of Hadrian's Wall. Rome set it up in Britain cuz they were 'World Conquerors'. When Rome spread itself too thin, it could no longer support security at the Wall. So they just abandoned it and left Britain to its own devices.

Similar situation with space. The US has spread itself too thin all over the world and has to 'cut back' somewhere.

So, like Britain, space is now left to the various profiteers who want it. Britain thrived amassing a rich history and some big time on the world stage, itself.

I guess we now wait and see if space travel will thrive in the private sector.
