WE'RE MOVING TO PITTSBURGH!!!!!

In, like, a week. Eek.

I'm ridiculously excited.

Questions for Pittsburghy people:
  1. Do you know anyone who's subletting for the summer? We're looking for somewhere to stay while we house-hunt (preferably furnished, and definitely in Squirrel Hill, Shadyside or Oakland).
  2. Comcast or Verizon FiOS? Or are there other ( Read more... )

I admit it is a bit expensive, but I have been happy with my new droid phone so far.

Neat! Do you need any logistic help with arrival on the Pittsburgh end?

Also, I've been really happy with FiOS.

In addition: Are you and J interested in borrowing a car for the summer? I'm looking to foist mine off on someone while I'm in Japan.

srsly? That's very awesome of you! We'd be very interested, assuming we could work out a mutually agreeable arrangement about paying you for wear and tear and stuff.

What dates are you away?

Data plans are kind of expensive in, uh, most of the world. I don't think the US is so freakish relative to other places. -asdf

I didn't mean DATA plans were expensive, I meant NORMAL plans were expensive. I've only ever owned a cell phone in Qatar, so that's all I can compare to. J's last monthly bill was QR44 ($12). Mine was perhaps twice that, since I SMS a lot.

Now I'm thinking of doing something like the T-Mobile pay-as-you-go plan.

I use TMobile, and it's actually cheaper than any other smartphone orovider.

Also: West Penn. Overall, people in the West Penn system are much less disgruntled by their corporate behemoth than are people in UPMC. Magee residents are overworked, miserable, and bitchy.

On #2, I recommend Speakeasy DSL - they're very geek-friendly and the DSL-sans-phone-service thing works out pretty well.

I'm paying less for FiOS than I payed for Speakeasy, and getting more reliable service.
