It's impressive (if a little odd) than an AI holds shares in something. But then I suppose in QC terms that's perfectly normal.

Well, it's also possible, I suppose, that if AIs aren't allowed to own things, he has been given authority to use Hannelore's father's shares. Dr. Chatham or Dr. Ellicot-Chatham may have just said, "Do what you want with it, but leave me enough to live on and do my things."

Or the space station has different rules that the US...which is also possible.

Hanners said that her parents had lots of money. She's not living in a near empty apartment because of poverty.

Apparently being a space station can be profitable. I wonder what a shuttle makes.

I interpret your comment as skeptical, that doing the math reveals a figure too high to be reasonable. Given what we know of Hannelore's family, though, owning a space station and all, I don't think $600 million is too high. They're filthy rich, just as we already knew.

Not skeptical of the amount... I know they are wealthy.... I just had a "wow, I could live more than comfortably forever on that amount of money" moments... that's all
