If it was drawn from Pintsize's perspective, somehow I don't think it's the legs and ankles he'd be concentrating on....

for the legs, you've got the right idea going on with the ankle and the calves in the asymmetry, the inside ankle is higher than outside, and inside calf is lower than outside. Though the foot that is front on could be centered between the bulge of the ankle bones better. As for opacity brushes they tend to work better for me if I try and just address the whole shape being shaded in one brush stroke in terms of not removing the tip of the pen you can have a bit easier control over the gradiation
