Nothing brightens your day, I find, like telling a client that they have a 99.999791% probability of losing their house in the next few months, given that they are trying to support themselves, their now out-of-work spouse, and their eight children on a factory job that grosses them, monthly, approximately $320 more than their mortgage payment ( Read more... )

Yeah. Just as well, really. I can already feel myself getting uncomfortably inured to some of the stuff that runs like a river through most of my clients' lives. I don't want the full-body carapace - I think I'd have to quit if I got to that point, and I still think the world's worth saving. It's like being a cop - at least a due South cop - at least in the stories I like.
