...hm. i was gonna link you to the main site, as it does a better job of explaining itself than I could, but it's inaccessible at the moment. V. v. short story: Yuletide's a writing challenge involving only small fandoms (for a very particular definition of "small", which is part of what I wanted the site for), and the deadline for story submissions is tomorrow at juuuuuust before midnight.

And I'm writing for it.

And that's about all I can say in a public post. Oh - except that no, your response was not off-topic, but in fact quite on-topic, and if I had not turned out to have another friend who themselves had read the canon I needed, I would totally have thrown myself on your friend artslave's [sp?] mercy and been grateful for the suggestion.
