in case anyone was wondering:

the fact that this kind of horror and a host of others related to it happen to poor people in my beloved, benighted, battered country every day plays a HUGE part in why I do what I do.

God.

Fangrrls I'm seeing tonight: I'm gonna need a hug and a good stiff drink after this one.

poverty, life, law

Aish! *hugs you, partially for you, partially for me, and partially for them*

You're working on the side of angels, hon, and I, for one, am very glad they have you.

On a much lighter note, my ipod surprised me with a new song this morning, which turned out to be the tuvan 80's rock - very fun! I'd actually listened to snippets of the album once, I think, and it was described as tuvan throat singing versions of heavy metal or something. ♥

Doin' my best. Not taking the steps I'd like to take to stop this kind of thing at its source - at least insofar as it can be stopped, as there will always be SOME humans who feel they must be awful to others and some others who will be too crazy to care. But doing something, maybe.

Glad you liked the Tuvan(ish?) song! That makes me happy.

That's awesome, darlin'. Thank you. I especially like the part where they painted Mama's nails red so she'd pick at her manicure instead of grooming her daughter :-).

(The model for your icon is next to me under a pile of fuzzy burgundy blanket. So. Cute.)
